Electrical Enclosures
Electrical Enclosures are cabinets that are designed to enclose electronic or electrical equipment to mount displays, knobs and switches. They are also designed to prevent electrical shocks to people who use the equipment and also protect all the electrical components enclosed within the cabinet from the environment. The only visible component is the Electrical Enclosure; this is the part that conceals all of the electrical components keeping them out of reach and sight of the public. Sometimes these enclosures are designed not just for their utilitarian requirements but often they are designed to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
These enclosures are often manufactured from metals and rigid plastics (the preferred choice of metal is aluminium and steel). Sometimes processed or natural wood is used; however these enclosures are a lot less common. The type of material used to manufacture the enclosures often depends on what it is to enclose (like a radio receive)
it all depends what the equipment is best suited to.
There are certain standards that must be met when manufacturing an enclosure; these rules are put in place to ensure safety is a top priority due to the contents being electrical. In some countries it must conform to the NEMA standard (which covers corrosion resistance and the ability to protect its contents from submersion and rain.) Other countries must conform to standard IEC 60529.Electrical enclosure can go by a few other names as well like Street Cabinets and Junction Boxes. Have a look online if you require one of the enclosures.
